Watercolor Paintings

My other great love is painting with watercolors. I have resigned myself to the fact that I will always paint abstracts. That is where my heart leads my hands.

Jewelry Boxes

I love making fabric covered jewelry boxes. I only wish they didn't take 8 hours to make.

Candle burned paper collage

I am trying something new, and I'm addicted. I am taking decorative scrapbook paper and cutting out pieces that I want to assemble in a collage. My twist that I find beautiful and fun to do is to burn the outer edges with a candle.

Then I add them to a wooden shadowbox that I painted black.

This one is the first of many. I finished it this afternoon and am working on 2 more right now :)

Update - I added wax to my collage to give it a finished, pulled together look :)

Creative Block

The only way I know to overcome creative block is to create something totally different. I enjoy playing with fabrics and beads. This is the first jewelry box I covered.

I used velvety ribbon to cover the raw edges of the fabric. After I made this, it occured to me that I could just fold the fabric to create clean edges. This is my second box.

I love making these fabric covered jewelry boxes, but they take all day long. The next one will be purple and white. I have everything I need to start it, but I put it off because they take so much time to complete. Someday...

Deviant Art is a website where you can upload and post your art, crafts, photos, poetry, and more. People can look at and favor your work and you can choose favorite artists to follow. You don't have to offer prints of your work for sale, but that option is available as well.

A class at the library

The Panama City Artists invited me to share my inexpensive wax painting techniques at the public library. Over a dozen people showed up, and we accidentally blew a fuse in one of the outlets. Luckily my friend and mentor Roxanne brought plenty of extension cords.

Zazzle

I found a site that does a beautiful job screening my art onto gift products. I used them to make my business cards and I was shocked at how beautiful and finely detailed they were. I love this site. Here are samples of my art on various products.
